PROFESSIONAL DRY CLEANING

There are three main components that go into the actual cleaning process, a fluid known as Perchloroethylene (perc), special dry cleaning solvents, and sizing. Perc has been found to be the more effective in cleaning soiled garments. Sizing is added to the solution in order to provide a sharper appearance and more improved color. These fluids and solvents contain little or no water and do not penetrate the fabric to weaken fibers in the way water does. There are many advantages to dry cleaning, such as its ability to better dissolve grease or oil based stains, maintain a more true color, reduce shrinkage and distortion, and maintain a longer life for the garment. Garments found to be delicate are especially cared for, each garment is placed individually into a net bag prior to cleaning. This ensures no snagging or tangling while being cleaned.

Our staff at Foster Cleaners has been highly trained to properly identify, which cleaning and pressing procedures maybe best when handling your garment.

WET CLEANING

Wet cleaning is the process of removing soils from garments and other textile items through the use of water and solvents. Special precautions are taken to prevent shrinkage, color loss, and fabric distortion.

Some times wet cleaning may be the more effective method of cleaning for your garment, based on the manufacturer care instructions. Extremely soiled garments will not become clean enough through dry cleaning alone. Certain smells such as pet odors or urine will also be better eliminated through wet cleaning. Many difficult stains can also be removed with this process.

FINISHED LAUNDRY

These items can include men's dress shirts, docker style pants, cotton blouses, and table linen. The items are pretreated and then cleaned with water and solvents before being pressed. Finished laundry is then pressed on a high pressure high heat press. Within 30 seconds a wet garment will be pressed dry, this is what creates a fine crisp finish. The finished laundry garments are done with your starch preference, and are usually hung on hangers or boxed. Linens are professionally folded or hung.

HAND WASHING AND NATURAL DRYING

With today's fashions and trends we have noticed many garments contain heavy bead work, glitter, or sequence. With many of these garments the instruction label may say dry clean only, this label is intended for the garment before ornaments have been added. Many of these ornaments may melt if dry cleaned. Hand washing and natural drying ensures that these ornaments do not melt and remain in place.

ALTERATIONS AND MENDING

Alterations are sent out to an experienced professional who can handle various repairs. Some alterations include hemming, patching, jacket lining repairs, seam repairs, and minor mending. The general turn around time is about one week, but special requests and rushes can be made.

LEATHER AND SUEDE CLEANING

Leather is also sent out to one of the best professional leather cleaners in the area. They come every Monday, and provide excellent care in cleaning, repairing, and dying leather. We recommend that even if a label states that a garment is made of washable suede it still be sent to professional leather cleaner. Many garments provide false or improper care instructions, and by dry cleaning or washing suede it will take away from the quality and appearance of the leather.

HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

We clean and freshen many of your household items such as many area rugs, couch covers, drapery, curtains, decorative pillows, comforters, and bed linens. These items are cared for according to the manufacturer's instructions and handled with care.

WEDDING DRESSES

We have become known for our superior expertise in the cleaning of wedding dresses. We have restored many antique wedding dresses that have undergone yellowing during the storage process. No matter how fancy or delicate the dress Foster Cleaners will provide excellent service in maintaining that memory of your special day. We also offer wedding dress preservation and boxing. Our boxes are specially treated to reduce yellowing and prevent damage from insects such as moths or silver fish. The boxes are a metallic gold and contain a viewing window.

ARE ALL DRY CLEANERS THE SAME?

This brings the age old saying, “You get what you pay for.” We are not a discount cleaners, our prices may seem higher but these prices are reflected in our garment service. We offer many services and processes that discount cleaners do not offer, such as our excellent stain removal and pretreatment, three point inspection process, free button replacement, and tissue with padded hangers for blouses. Your garment passes through three points where they will be inspected for stains, damage, button loss, and press quality. We provide free mending for small repairs in garments, for example small holes or snags in sweaters. Blouses are sent out on padded hangers with tissue in the sleeves to maintain shape and appearance. If we charged what discount cleaners charged we wouldn't be able to proved great quality dry cleaning.
